In this article, you can see the relationship between Uraume and Gojo family, Sukuna, and also his past.

Uraume, who is on the side of Geto(Kenjaku) and his allies, is a character who has very few appearances in the story of Jujutsu-kaisen.

However, as the story progresses, it becomes clear that he is an important character in Jujutsu-Kaisen.

[Jujutsu-kaisen] Uraume’s Profile! Relationship with Gojo Family and Sukuna!

As I said at the beginning of this article, Uraume used to have very few appearances in the story of Jujutsu Kaisen, and when he did appear in Shibuya incident, many people seemed to think “Who is he?”.

First of all, let’s take a look at the information we know about Uraume, the scenes where he appeared in Jujutsu Kaisen, and in which volume and episode he appeared.

Who is Uraume? Gender, technique, etc..

There is very little information known about Uraume, so almost things are unknown.

By the way, Uraume looks like a girl with a bob cut, but even the gender is unknown because Juzo Kumiya says “I don’t even know if it’s a man or a woman”.

Uruume is in the position of commander of the curse users and curses

In the manga volume 7, chapter 53, the members of magic technical college detained and interrogated Juzo kumiya who had attacked the college, and he testified as follows.

Juzo Kumiya also doesn’t know anything about the details, he just seems to have been instructed by Uraume to attack the college.

In addition, the name Uraume was not even revealed at this time.

What is the relationship between Uraume and Geto?

In fact, no one in the college had any idea of Uraume’s physical characteristics as “a little boy of unknown sex”.

If Geto gave instructions directly to his allies, he might be exposed when his allies were made to confess his physical characteristics, so Uraume might have given instructions on his behalf.

Also, as we shall see later, Uraume’s one of the purposes is to meet Sukuna, so it seems that he and Geto have the same interest and are working together.

Uraume’s first appearance scene (Vol.7, chapter 53)

Uraume first appears in volume 7, chapter 53 of the manga.

He is standing behind Geto and Mahito who are on holiday in Dagon’s inner territory, and from this picture alone she seems to be in the position of a secretary or support person for Geto and the others.

It is also possible that he is a collaborator whose interests coincide with those of Geto, but his true relationship with Geto is unknown at the moment.

Uraume’s appearance scene ‘Instructing to kill the assistant director’ (Vol.11, chapter 92)

In chapter 92 of volume 11 of the manga, Uraume appeared for the second time in the story of the Jujutsu Kaisen.

At this time, it was the middle of the Shibuya incident, and Kiyotaka Ijichi and the other assistant directors were scattered all over Shibuya to establish a network of communication.

However, Ijichi was stabbed multiple times in the back by Haruta Shigemo, leaving him in a critical condition.

It was Uraume who instructed Haruta Shigemo to kill the assistant directors, saying “Please keep hunting people in suits”.

Incidentally, this is the first scene in which Uraume speaks.

Uraume’s appearance scene ‘Reunion with Sukuna’ (Vol.14, chapter 116)

And Uraume’s third appearance was in the manga of volume 14, chapter 116, and it was in this scene that Uraume was suggested to be an important person.

When Yuji Itadori became unconscious in the battle with Choso, and during that time, Jogo made Sukuna’s finger eat all over the place, Sukuna was temporarily manifested.

Then Uraume appears to Sukuna and says, “I’ve come to escort you“. We don’t know if there was some kind of agreement, or if it was Uraume’s mission or something, or where he was going to pick him up.

But at least, coming in contact with Sukuna himself, there seems to be some extraordinary circumstances or family history involved.

Uraume’s appearance in the scene ‘Ice formation’ (vol.16, chapter 135)

Uraume showed his technique “Ice formation” in chapter 135, freezing almost everyone in one shot, including Yuji Itadori and Choso.

It is an extremely powerful technique as well as a ranged attack, and it is also very effective in restraining people because if they move badly, their bodies will be broken.

This scene shows that Uraume is not just a backer, but rather a very strong character.

[Jujutsu Kaisen] What is the relationship and past of Sukuna and Uraume?

So far I have talked about Uraume’s appearance in the story.

By Uraume’s words and actions when he meets Sukuna in chapter 116, we know that Uraume, who we had thought to be just a sub or a secretary, is now an important character.

Let’s first look at the relationship between Sukuna and Uraume.

Considering the relationship from Sukuna’s reaction when he saw Uraume.

In manga volume 14, chapter 116, when Sukuna takes a glance at Uraume, he says, “Who are you?”.

In other words, to Sukuna, Uraume’s figure didn’t seem to ring a bell at first sight.

Then, after looking at Uraume kneeling down for a while, Sukuna called out, “Uraume?!”.  Then Uraume replies, “It’s nice to see you again”.

From the fact that Uraume says “It’s nice to see you again”, it reminds us that they had a master-servant relationship in the time when Sukuna was alive.

Is Uraume still alive from 1000 years ago when Sukuna was there?

In the 3rd episode of the volume 1 of the manga, there is a scene where Satoru Gojo explains to Yuji Itadori about Ryomen-Sukuna.

Sukuna used be a real person who existed more than 1000 years ago, and it is thought that he and Uraume had a master-servant relationship during this period.

If that’s the case, then Uraume would have lived for more than 1000 years, unless he used some special skills.

Or, since Sukuna didn’t recognize Uraume at first sight, he could be a descendant of Uraume’s bloodline, or a shaman who moves from one body to another like Kenjaku.

Does Sukuna trust Uraume?

In chapter 117, Sukuna says to Uraume, “See you later, Uraume”.

In the first place, Sukuna is not interested in most things, whether they are human beings or curses, and the only one he is interested in is Megumi Fushikuro.

This behaviour shown to Uraume is too kind for Sukuna, and we can see that Sukuna has a certain level of trust in Uraume.

Uraume used to be a cook?

In the fan book of Jujutsu Kaisen, there is surprising fact. Uraume used to be a cook for Sukuna a long time ago.

Furthermore, Uraume is not ordinary cook. He can cook special meal using human meats!

There were very few cooks who can deal with human meats of course, Sukuna likes him so much.

[Jujutsu Kaisen] Is Uraume a descendant of the Gojo family?

However, the truth of his master-servant relationship with Sukuna, whether he has lived 1000 years, or in some other way, remains a mystery in many ways.

In this part of the story, we will explore the possibility from some clues, such as what the mysterious Uraume’s family lineage is, and its connection with the Gojo family.

Was Uraume sealed in “Prison realm” before Gojo Satoru?

From the fact that there were some words and actions which suggest that they were master and servant before Sukuna’s death, we know that Shukuna and Uraume knew each other over 1000 years ago.

As for how to transcend the time of over 1000 years, there are several ways in Jujutsu Kaisen, one of which is to be sealed in “Prison realm“.

In chapter 91 volume 11 of the manga, Satoru Gojo was sealed in “Prison realm” by Geto(Kenjaku), and in Prison realm, Satoru Gojo says that “physical time does not flow”, which means that as long as he is sealed there, he will not age.

Since only one person can be sealed there, it is possible that Uraume was sealed before Gojo Satoru was sealed.

If we think that Kenjaku opened the seal of it and let Uraume out, the connection between Uraume and Kenjaku will be clean.

A being incarnated by a technique?

Other than surviving 1000 years or surviving with seals, it could have been in the form of a cursed charm, like fingers of Ryomen-Sukuna or “Cursed womb kusouzu”.

In the case of cursed charm, it is manifested in modern times by incarnating on people.

Uruume may have also taken the form of a cursed charm after death, and incarnated into human beings in the present age.

 

Incidentally, a person who can incarnate Sukuna is called a ‘vessel‘, but for the last 1000 years there has been no such person, and Yuji Itadori is the only Sukuna’s vessel.

Sukuna is the only exception in that the number of people who can incarnate is extremely limited, but as for the “Cursed womb kusouzu”, even people who can’t even see the cursed spirits are incarnating.

Therefore, we can assume that special cursed charm other than Sukuna are basically incarnated by humans, even if they are not shamans.

Is Uraume from the Gojo family?

Assuming that Uraume is in the present day after 1000 years in the manner described above, we will discuss who he is.

Many people on the internet focus on the name “Uraume” and associate him with Michizane Sugawara.

Michizane Sugawara, whose name appears in Jujutsu-Kaisen Volume 0, is the ancestor of Satoru Gojo and Yuta Okkotsu. He is also one of the most famous shaman in the history.

He was also famous for his love of the plum blossom. There is a poem written by Michizane about plum blossoms, and the family crest of Sugawara family has a plum blossom on it.

And name of “Uraume” represents the family crest which is a design of the reverse side of a plum blossom.

If this similarity is not a coincidence, then Uraume may be a bloodline related to the Gojo family.

In this way, I wonder if ‘Uraume’ is a personal name, or a family name.

However, in chapter 116, Sukuna says “See you later Uraume”, and from the way he says it, it seems to be a personal name.

Conclusion of “Jujutsu Kaisen, Uraume and Sukuna are well-known allies?”

This time, I’ve discussed the relationship between Uraume, Sukuna and Gojo family.

Uraume, a sub-character who has had very few chances to appear in the story, has been upgraded to an important character by the encounter scene with Sukuna.

What kind of relationship he will have with Sukuna in the future, or even whether he is an enemy or an ally to Yuji Itadori and the others, is still unclear, so we’ll have to wait and see.

There are a lot of foreshadowings like this in the Jujutsu Kaisen, so it’s fun to read it with a lot of anticipation.
