[Jujutsu Kaisen] Is the true identity of Mechamaru (Koukichi Muta) an insider (spy)? What is the reason?
Mechamaru (Koukichi Muta) was a spy who passed information about the magic technical college Geto(Kenjaku).
Satoru Gojo had already noticed that there was an informant on the technical college side, and had asked Utahime to investigate the Kyoto school side.
Then, in the manga volume 9, chapter 79, it is revealed that Mechamaru was one of the informants.
By the way, it is said that there are other informants besides Muchamaru, and it seems that the darkness of shaman society is very deep.
Mechamaru’s “puppet manipulation technique” is perfect for espionage!
In the 79th chapter of the 9th volume of the manga, Utahime, Yuji, Megumi Fushiguro, and Kugizaki entered the room where Mechamaru’s main body, Koukichi Muta, was located.
But the room was already empty.
Here, Utahime talks about Mechamaru’s potential as a spy, saying that the puppet might be the size of a fly or a mosquito.
Mechamaru’s technique is called “Puppet manipulation” and it covers the whole of Japan, so if he uses a puppet the size of a mosquito or a fly, he is the perfect person for informant.
The reason why Koukichi Muta became a spy is to have his body healed.
The story of why Mechamaru betrayed the technical college in the first place is told in the manga volume 9, chapter 79.
Mechamaru had made the following bindings with Geto(Kenjaku) and Mahito.
- Mechamaru is to pass the information of the technical college side to Geto
- In return, he will be cured by Mahito’s technique “Idle transfiguration”.
Kokichi Muta was born without the elbow of his right arm and the knees of his legs.
In addition, his skin was so weak that even the moonlight caused a stinging pain, so he was basically unable to go outside.
In return for his bodily functions, he was born with an unbelievable range of techniques and spell power, and Koukichi Muta wished he could heal his body and meet the Kyoto school members in person.
The binding vow is not to touch any members of the Kyoto school.
By the way, there is another “binding” between Geto and Mechamaru, “Geto and Mahito do not touch Kyoto school members“.
However, at the goodwill event, Hanami attacked and the Kyoto school members were badly hurt.
Since this “binding” was for Geto and Mahito, there was no restriction on Hanami’s actions, and neither Geto nor Mahito received any penalty.
If Mahito had laid a hand on members of the Kyoto school at the goodwill event, he would have been severely penalized for violating the “binding”.
[Jujutsu Kaisen] The battle between Mechamaru and Mahito!
The investigation by Utahime revealed that Mechamaru is an informant of Geto(Kenjaku) side, and at about the same time Kokichi Muta is resurrected from his handicapped body to fight Mahito.
In this article, we’ll take a closer look at how Koukichi Muta came to be on Geto’s side, and why he ended up fighting them.
Why did Mechamaru broke away with Geto(Kenjaku) and Mahito?
As mentioned earlier, there was a “binding” between Geto(Kenjaku) and Kokichi Muta (Mechamaru) that Geto and Mahito would not touch Kyoto school members.
However, at the goodwill event, Hanami also attacked the Kyoto school members.
Although it is not a violation of the “binding” because it was not Geto or Mahito who did it, this incident made Mechamaru not trust them.
It is also possible that because Mechamaru was an informant, he knew part of what Geto and the others were planning and changed his mind because of the horrible things they were planning.
Ultimate Mechamaru Mode Absolute
In chapter 80 of volume 10 of the manga, the battle between Mechamaru and Mahito has begun.
Mechamaru fights Mahito aboard the “Ultimate Mechamaru Mode Absolute“, a modified version of his regular Mechamaru.
During the past 17 years, 5 months and 6 days of his life, Mechamaru has been accumulating his own magic power in the Ultimate Mechamaru Absolute Form, allowing him to temporarily achieve the destructive power of the special grade shaman, despite being a quasi-1st class.
Mechamaru’s trump card, “New Shadow Style: Simple Domain”.
Even with Kokichi Muta’s 17 years of spell power and the Ultimate Mechamaru Absolute Form, without the ability to interfere directly with the soul, Mahito cannot be damaged.
Furthermore, if he were to be drawn into domain expansion of Mahito, he would die instantly, regardless of the robust armour of the Ultimate Mechamaru Absolute Form.
However, Mechamaru had prepared a countermeasure for this, based on Kasumi Miwa’s technique “New Shadow Style: Simple Domain“.
The simple domain protects him from attacks within Mahito’s domain expansion, and by generating the simple domain from inside Mahito’s body, he can also directly damage Mahito’s soul.
Mahito is revived and Mechamaru died.
The attack by Kokichi Muta caused Mahito’s body to explode and his domain to disappear.
After defeating Mahito, Koukichi Muta tried to defeat Geto(Kenjaku) with his remaining spell power.
But then Mahito, who was supposed to be dead, came back to life and entered the cockpit.
Mahito had only pretended to be dead by deliberately rupturing his own body and deactivating his domain expansion at the same time.
Kokichi Muta tries to attack him directly with the “simple domain”, but there is no way he can win against Mahito, and he dies here.
The reason why Kokichi Muta became an insider of Geto was to heal his body and meet the members of the Kyoto school directly.
And all the time he was fighting with Mahito, he was thinking of “I’ll meet everyone”, but in the end it never came true.
[Jujutsu Kaisen] After the death of Mechamaru, he is resurrected as three mini-mechamaru!
Koukichi Muta was killed in the battle with Mahito, and he was unable to inform the technical college in advance of Shibuya Incident.
Then, in the 83rd chapter of the 10th volume of the manga, a curtain is lowered on Shibuya, trapping the public, and almost all the members of the Tokyo technical college come out.
In the middle of this Shibuya incident, Kokichi Muta, who was supposed to be dead, comes back to life in a different form.
Three mini-mechamaru were prepared as insurance against his death.
In chapter 90 of volume 11 of the manga, “Mini-Mechamaru” comes into contact with Yuji Itadori.
Mini-mechamaru is an “insurance policy” left by Kokichi Muta, and is set to function even after his death.
As the only person on the technical college side who knew information about Geto(Kenjaku), Mini-Mechamaru played a very important role in the Shibuya Incident by providing information to Yuji and the others.
What did the first Mini-Mechamaru tell Yuji Itadori?
Kokichi Muta had prepared three mini-mechamaru, one of which was designed to bring him into contact with Yuji Itadori.
The reason for this was that Yuji was the least likely to be an informant.
And mini-mechamaru, while providing information to Yuji, will help him to get through the phase of the Shibuya incident.
The condition for activating the Mini-Mechamaru was to seal Gojyo Satoru.
The condition for Mini-Mechamaru’s activation was “the sealing of Satoru Gojo“.
This means that when Mini-Mechamaru comes into contact with Yuji, it means that Satoru Gojo has been sealed at the same time.
The first thing Mini-Mechamaru wants to tell Yuji is that Gojo has been sealed, and he guides Yuji as his advisor to break the seal.
The biggest concern for Geto(Kenjaku) is Gojo, and if they can get him back, they can stop Geto’s plans.
In addition, Gojo is so good that he can destroy Japan by himself, and without him, the balance of power in the shamans and human society will collapse.
The fact that Gojo has been sealed is a serious problem in the country.
Kento Nanami, aka Nanamin, even said “If this sealing is true, It’s all over.“.
To stop Geto(Kenjaku)’ plan, Yuji has to take back Satoru Gojo.
Mini-Mechamaru also knows the properties of the curtains that have been dropped off in Shibuya, and he uses this information to retrieve Gojo and stop Geto’s plan.
If there wasn’t Mini-Mechamaru’s inside information about Geto’s side, he wouldn’t have known how many curtains there were, and Yuji wouldn’t have known their properties.
Although it was after Kokichi’s death, he was the MVP of the Shibuya incident.
The second Mini-Mechamaru is located on the B5F of Shibuya station.
The second of the three mini-mechamaru was set on the B5F of Shibuya station. This level is where Geto and his allies engage Gojo, and it is here that they seal him.
Geto and his friends seal Gojo with Prison realm, but Gojo’s unorthodox powers prevent Prison realm from processing the information, and he is stuck there for a while.
The second mini-mechamaru was able to capture the crucial information that Geto and the others were unable to move Gojo, and pass it on to Yuji and the others.
The third Mini-Mechamaru goes to Kasumi Miwa, the love of his life.
The third mini-mechamaru was set up at the Kyoto school members.
The reason for this was to keep Utahime, Kamo, Momo, Mai and Miwa from going to the scene of the Shibuya incident, so that they could go on another mission.
But in the end, the trick was exposed and Miwa and the others took the bullet train to Shibuya.
On the bullet train, Miwa and Mini-Mekamaru talked, and Miwa asked him why he did the trick and why he didn’t rely on them.
Mini-Mechamaru tells her that he didn’t want to cause the deaths of the Kyoto school members, and most importantly, that he wanted to protect Miwa.
As depicted during the battle with Mahito, Kokichi Muta loved Miwa and did not want her to go to the Shibuya incident, which was too dangerous.
After the death of Koukichi Muta, he tells his feelings through Mini-Mechamaru at the last moment, and Mini-Mechamaru stops functioning.
This was the moment when Kokichi Muta died completely from the world of Jujutsu kaisen.
If only Miwa and Kokichi Muta could have met in person at least once.
Conclusion of “[Jujutsu Kaisen] Mechamaru’s death scene! Is he alive in Shibuya incident?”
In this article, we explained the true identity of Mechamaru (Kokichi Muta) from Jujutsu Kaisen, his death scene, and why and how he was resurrected as Mini Mechamaru after his death.
As the story progresses, it becomes clear that he is a very important person, and without the information of Mekamaru, the shamans would have been helplessly defeated in the Shibuya incident.
I wish I could have fulfilled Mechamaru’s small wish to meet the Kyoto school members in person.
