[Jujutsu Kaisen] Suguru Geto’s profile! Past appearance and personality!

First of all, we would like to introduce a brief profile of Suguru GeTo, his personality and his grade as a shaman.

He used to be a shaman in the past, but he became a curse user for a reason. Although his ideology has changed before and after that, his personality has remained consistent.

Profile of Suguru Geto

First of all, we have compiled a profile of Suguru Geto. The list is as follows.

Suguru Geto originally belonged to the magic technical college, and was a classmate of Satoru Gojoand Shoko Ieri, so he is the same age as them.

name Suguru Geto
age 26
(the timeline of vol.0)
birth date Feb. 3
grade special
technique Cursed spirit manupulation
voice actor Takahiro Sakurai

Suguru Geto was a shaman who used to belongs to magic technical college.

Suguru Geto’s school days are depicted in the manga volume 8, chapter 65.

It begins with Suguru Gojo and Suguru Geto rushing to rescue Utahime Iori.

Satoru Gojo was particularly strong like a monster in his childhood. So the fact that Geto was on equal footing with Satoru Gojo shows that Geto Suguru is an exceptional shaman.

Suguru Geto’s personality is definitely serious!

When he was a student, Suguru Geto was a man with a sense of duty and seriousness, who admonished Satoru Gojo about “what a shaman should be” and “helping the weak people”.

Incidentally, since his student days, Gojo Satoru has always been a person who wants to live a free life, and it seems that he has often clashed with Suguru Geto.

At this time, Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, and Shoko Ieiri were in their second year of school, and looking at the members, it was truly a golden age.

Such a serious person with outstanding talent and ability, GeTo dropped out of the magic technical college one day, and was designated as a curse user (a curse user: they harm people).

He then used his various contacts to gather people and money, and to gather comrades to work for the realization of his ideals.

The betrayal of Geto was a major event in the society of shaman, as he was one of the few shamans in Japan with the grade of “special“.

[Jujutsu Kaisen] Relationship between Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo in the past!

In this section, we will explain the episodes of Suguru Geto at the magic technical College, and his relationship with Satoru Gojo.

Even Satoru Gojo, who boasts of being the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen, has his own school days, and his interactions with his classmate and best friend, Suguru Geto, are quite interesting.

A certain incident happened at that time. So let’s take a look at some of the episodes from the past in chronological order.

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto are the strongest combination of magic technical college in the past!

The episodes when Suguru Geto and Satoru Gojo were students at the magic technical College are depicted between the manga volume 8, chapter 65 and the manga volume 9, episode 79.

In chapter 65, Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, and Shoko Iairi rush to help Utahime Iori, and kill her opponent with Satoru Gojo’s technique “Limitless cursed technique” and Suguru Geto’s technique “cursed spirit manipulation“.

Suguru Geto is a second-year student in the same class as Satoru Gojo, and from that time on, the two of them were already uncommonly strong together.

For Satoru Gojo, Geto Suguru is his best friend, and he trusts him so much that he says, “We’re the strongest“.

The past of Suguru Geto! The protection mission of Tengen’s star plasma vessel “Riko Amanai”.

The past of Suguru Geto! The protection mission of Tengen's star plasma vessel (C)Gege Akutami/Shueisha

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto are given the mission of “protecting Riko Amanai,” Tengen’s star plasma vessel.

They are tasked with protecting Riko from the “Curse user Group Q” and the “The star religious group: Time Vessel Association“, who want to kill her, and sending her to Tengen.

Curse user Group Q is a group of curse users who want to overthrow the world of shamans by making Tengen run out of control, and The star religious group of Time Vessel Association is a dangerous religious group that worships Tengen but regards Riko Amanai as an “impurity”.

What is “Tengen” and “star plasma vessel”?

The following is a brief explanation of the terms “Tengen” and “star plasma vessel”.

Tengen is an immortal shaman who operates the wards of the magic technical College and the shaman society. Without Tengen, the security of the base and the execution of missions would be impossible.
In addition, Tengen is immortal, but not ageless, and once every 500 years, the technique changes his body. If left unchecked, Tengen will evolve into a higher being, but since the will of Tengen disappears when he becomes a higher being, there is a possibility that Tengen will become an enemy of humanity.
Once every 500 years, Tengen updates his body by assimilating “star plasma vessel”.
In this way, no higher evolution takes place, the effects of the technique are reset and the body remains stable for another 500 years.

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto rushed to Riko Amanai’s side, and with their unconventional powers, they quickly destroyed the “curse user group Q“.

However, a bounty of 30 million yen was placed on Riko Amanai’s head on a noticeboard for curse users, and various curse users came after her.

Although Riko Amanai was protected, Misato Kuroi, who served as her maid, was kidnapped and other troublesome situations arose, but Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto took care of everything.

Incidentally, the “The star religious group: Time Vessel Association” that abducted Misato Kuroi chose Okinawa as a place to negotiate, so after Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto take care of everything, they spend some time in the ocean in Okinawa.

After protecting Riko Amanai and bringing her safely to the magic technical college, the group is attacked by Toji Fushiguro.

The battle with Toji Fushiguro is depicted in the manga from volume 8, chapter 70 to volume 9,  chapter 72.

In fact, the fact that there was a 30 million yen bounty on Riko Amanai was orchestrated by Toji Fushiguro, and he aimed for the moment when Satoru relaxed for a moment after arriving at the magic technical college.

Toji Fushigurohas an inhuman physical ability due to his “heaven’s binding curse“, and furthermore, he makes full use of his “Special Grade cursed Tools” to hunt down Gojo Satoru.

Satoru Gojo, who was exhausted by Riko Amanai’s escort, was stabbed in the neck by Toji Fushiguro, who had made all preparations in advance, and then his upper body was cut open and his forehead was pierced, and he was defeated by Toji.

By the way, an ordinary blade can’t even touch him because of Satoru’s “Limitless cursed technique”, but Toji Fushikuro’s special grade spell tool “Inverted spear of heaven” has a special effect of forcing stoppage of a cursed technique, so the blade reached Gojo Satoru’s neck.

What is “heaven’s binding curse”?

Toji Fushiguro’s physical ability overwhelmes human being because of “heaven’s binding curse

This is a phenomenon in which a person is born with the ability to sacrifice something in order to gain great power in return.

Toji Fushikuro, originally named Toji Zen’in, was born into one of the three clans of shaman known as the Zen’in family, but had zero magic power.

Although there have been cases of “heaven’s binding curse” who have only the magic power of an ordinary person like Maki Zen’in, it seems that Toji was the only one in the world who had complete zero (according to Yuki Tsukumo).

As a result of this, Toji Fushiguro has an inhuman physical ability at the cost of having no magic power at all.

In Jujutsu Kaisen, it is often the case that the ability and spell power are raised by “sacrificing something” or “imposing some restriction”, as in the case of heaven’s binding curse.

While Toji Fushiguro and Satoru Gojo are fighting, Suguru Geto brings Riko Amanai and Misato Kuroi to the lowest level of the magic technical college, the “Tombs of the star“, where Tengen is located (chapter 72 of volume 9 of the manga).

He tells her that Tengen is at the center of the big tree in the main hall of the palace, but he also gives Riko the option of going home with Misato Kuroi.

In fact, Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto have discussed in advance what would happen if Riko Amanai refused to be assimilated, saying, “Then there will be no assimilation. Even if we have to fight Tengen, we have no choice.” This was the case.

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto spent only two days with Riko, but they became emotionally involved with her through their contact with her, and thought that they would protect her even if she gave up her duties as the star plasma vessel.

Then, Riko chooses to live as a normal human being instead of as the star plasma vessel, but at that moment, she is shot in the head by Toji Fushiguro’s gun and dies.

After this, Toji Fushikuro also defeats Suguru GeTo, and he is able to defeat the strongest duo of Gojo and GeTo in succession.

The turning point of the past chapter!

The reason why Toji Fushiguro wanted to kill Riko Amanai was for simple money and to receive a reward from “The star religious group: Time Vessel Association”.

In section 75 of volume 9 of the manga, Toji Fushiguro handed over the body of Riko Amanai to the star religious group, and when he completed his mission, he was reunited with Satoru Gojo, who was supposed to have died.

When Satoru Gojo was pierced through the throat by Toji Fushiguro, he put all his energy into creating a reversal technique on the edge of death, and succeeded in doing so at the last minute, thereby regenerating his own body.

And so begins the revenge match between Satoru Gojo and Toji Fushiguro.

However, even Toji Fushiguro was no match for Satoru Gojo, who was able to use the reversal technique and use “Limitless cursed technique” in the full sense, and in the end he was killed by imaginary technique “Purple”.

Satoru Gojo then goes to the star religious group and retrieves the body of Riko Amanai.

In chapter 76 of volume 9 of the manga, Suguru Geto also rushes to the star religious group.

There, he sees Satoru holding Riko Amanai’s body, and around him, the believers of clap with big smiles on their faces, happy about Riko Amanai’s death.

These believers were in this state because they really believed that “Riko Tannai was impure for Tengen”.

Both Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto are well aware of this, and since these believers are all non-shaman, they pass them by without harming them and return to the magic technical college.

This incident is like a wedge in the past for Suguru Geto, and becomes the trigger for his later outburst.

[Jujutsu Kaisen] The climax of the past chapter of Suguru Geto!

After the death of Riko Amanai comes the climax of the past chapter of Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto.

Gojo was mortally wounded by Toji Fushiguro and would have surely died if he were an ordinary person, but because he was on the verge of death, he mastered the “reversal technique“.

In a sense, Satoru Gojo has mastered magic technique, and at this point, he becomes the absolute strongest and most powerful shaman in the world.

In terms of grade alone, both Gojo and Geto were special, but Geto was the one who felt that the gap between their abilities had opened up decisively, and he probably felt a certain amount of guilt, envy and jealousy towards Gojo.

After this, a series of life-changing events took place in the life of Geto.

The important encounter of the past chapter! Suguru Geto and Yuki Tsukumo!

Satoru Gojo begins to carry out his missions alone, and inevitably, Suguru Geto also begins to carry out more missions alone.

The important encounter of the past chapter! Suguru Geto and Yuki Tsukumo!(C)Gege Akutami/Shueisha

The events related to Riko Amanai are still fresh in his mind, and he can’t get rid of the faces of the people who rejoiced over her death.

In addition, he has no one to talk to on equal terms with, and his frustration begins to build up.

The decisive incident of the past chapter! Suguru Geto finally falls in the dark side in a disgusting mission!

In the meantime, in chapter 77 of volume 9 of the manga, Suguru Geto met Yuki Tsukumo, a special grade shaman.

Yuki Tsukumo was researching how to create a world where curses are not born, instead of hunting curses.

There are two methods proposed by Yuki Tsukumo.

  • Eliminate the curse power from all mankind
  • Make it possible for all mankind to control the power of the curse.

In Yuki Tsukumo’s mind, the second method is the most realistic, which roughly means “if all human beings become shamans, the curse will not be born”.

Yuki Tsukumo’s theory is like “If all humans became shamans, the curse would never be born.”.

Then Suguru Geto’s conclusion is “We should kill all non-shamans.

Yuki Tsukumo thought she was just making small talk with Geto, but Geto came up with a kind of extreme answer through this.

At this point, Yuki Tsukumo was just chiding Geto in a casual way, but this would later become a clear path for Geto to fall to the dark side.

It all started a year ago with the case of Riko Amanai, and since then Geto has been feeling depressed, and he is given a mission to exorcise the spirits in a village.

In that village, two young girls are locked in a cage and persecuted by the villagers as if they were witches.

Because of their magic powers, the girls were blamed for all the misfortunes caused by the evil curses in the village.

After listening to the villagers abuse of the girls, Geto’s heart finally breaks.

The big event of the past! Suguru Geto breaks up with Gojo Satoru!

Suguru kills all 112 villagers on his mission, and rescues two girls who were locked in a cage.

As a result of this incident, Suguru Geto is targeted for execution as a curse user, and when Satoru Gojo hears about it from Masamichi Yaga, he is too upset to do anything about it.

He had killed all the villagers, and had even murdered his parents.

Geto wanders into a smoking area in Shinjuku where Shoko Ieiri is smoking a cigarette, and Satoru Gojo, who receives a phone call from Shoko, quickly rushes over to ask him why.

The big event of the past! Suguru Geto breaks up with Gojo Satoru!(C)Gege Akutami/Shueisha

Geto says that he is determined to kill everyone except the shaman, which is the answer he gave in his conversation with Yuki Tsukumo, but Gojo replies, “Of course it’s impossible.”.

Then Geto says, “You can do it. Satoru”, he replies. After the battle with Toji Fushikuro, Satoru has become strong enough to destroy Japan by himself, and is certainly the only person who can realize Geto’s ideal.

From this return, we can see that Geto had feelings of envy for Satoru’s strength and guilt for being left behind by Gojo.

At this time, Geto and Gojo have completely broken up.

The battle between Suguru Geto and Yuta Okkotsu!

After becoming a curse user and leaving the magic technical college, Suguru Geto continued to gather human resources and funds for the next ten years.

In volume 0 of the Jujutsu Kaisen, he holds “Night parade of a hundred demons” in Shinjuku and Kyoto, and attacks the magic technical college in order to obtain “Rika Orimoto“, a special grade overly spiteful curse that had possessed Yuta Okkotsu.

However, before the awakened Yuta Okkotsu, Suguru Geto was defeated.

With the last words to Satoru Gojo, then Suguru Geto dies.

After failing to get Rika Orimoto, Geto escaped from the battle with Yuta Okkotsu, despite having his right arm blown off, and tries to leave the scene to look for another opportunity.

But he is caught by Satoru.

At the end of the episode, Geto says that “I hate non-shamans”, but he doesn’t hate the people at the magic technical college, so it seems that he feels guilty for betraying Satoru and Shoko.

Gojo then gives his last words to Geto, and executes him with his own hands.

Incidentally, at the end of volume 0 of the manga, Gojo says of Geto Suguru

He’s my best friend.
The only one.

This was probably the last thing he said to Suguru Geto.

Conclusion of “Jujutsu Kaisen, Geto Suguru’s past is severe! What is the relationship with Satoru Gojo?”
