[Jujutsu Kaisen] Description of Choso’s technique, spells and domain expansion!
This is an explanation of the techniques, spells and domain expansion of Choso.
Born from the incarnation of the special grade cursed charm ‘Kusozu cursed womb‘, Choso is at least as strong as several ‘Sukuna’s fingers’.
And the precision of its technique and the output of its cursed energy are excellent.
The technique of Choso is the “Blood Manipulation”!
The technique used by Choso is the “Blood Manipulation“.
It can be used for long range, medium range and close combat, and can also be used for ranged attacks and restraint.
The “Blood Manipulation” is a traditional technique of the Kamo family, one of the three families in the jujutsu world, and the same technique is used by Noritoshi Kamo of the Kyoto school.
However, Choso is much more powerful, accurate, and has a much greater range of techniques, making him the strongest user of the “Blood Manipulation” in the series at the moment.
Convergence: Piercing Blood
“Convergence” is the technique of compressing one’s own blood by means of a spell.
The compressed blood is then shot out at the opponent at a very high speed, this is the “Piercing Blood“.
The pressure of the “Convergence” and the power of the “Piercing Blood” are both extremely high, especially in the case of the “Piercing Blood“, its initial velocity exceeds the speed of sound.
In the story, he shoots at Yuji, but even with Yuji’s overwhelming physical ability and reflexes, it is very difficult to avoid, and the power is so great that it almost pierces through the arm guarded by the cursed energy.
Convergence: Supernova
By spraying the blood compressed by “Convergence” around and then releasing the compressed blood, he can create a small bomb-like ranged attack with the “Supernova“.
In addition to being able to attack multiple enemies at the same time, by spraying a number of compressed blood with “Convergence“, it becomes an all-round attack that cannot be avoided.
It’s not as deadly as other attacks, but it’s more reliable.
Slicing Exorcism
“Slicing Exorcism” can slash by forming a circle of his own blood and sending it flying at his opponent like a giant boomerang.
The size of the circular blade can be changed at will, and it can be used to wipe out several enemies in one shot.
When Choso fired it at Satoru Gojo during the Shibuya Incident, many of the people around him were caught up in it and cut to pieces.
Blood edge
“Blood edge” is a technique that uses one’s own blood to create a sharp blade, which can be used to stab like a knife.
By the way, the “Blood edge” is not solidified by coagulation of blood, but keeps its shape by defining only the contour and turning the blood at high speed.
Blood meteorite
“Blood meteorite” is a spell that causes one’s own blood to coagulate and shoot out like a bullet.
However, it is not as fast and powerful as the “Piercing Blood“.
As it doesn’t have the same compression motion as the “Convergence“, the “Blood meteorite” is more suitable for surprise attacks at close range.
Flowing Red Scale
“Flowing Red Scale” uses the “Blood Manipulation” to manipulate his own body temperature, pulse and blood composition.
The result is a doping-like effect, which temporarily increases his physical abilities.
While the “Flowing Red Scale” is active, a pattern of flowing blood appears around the eyes.
Flowing Red Scale:stack
“Flowing Red Scale:stack” is shown by Chouso in his battle with Yuji.
This spell is an enhanced version of “Flowing Red Scale“, and it uses the cursed energy to improve physical performance.
In addition, the pattern around the eyes is even larger than that of the “Flowing Red Scale“.
Choso’s blood is toxic!
The poisonous nature of Choso’s blood means that if it gets into the body, it can cause serious physical problems.
In chapter 135, Uraume was hit by Choso’s “Piercing blood” and although the wound itself was treated with the reverse cursed technique, the poison remained in his body.
So in chapter 136, he was poisoned.
The initial velocity of the “Piercing blood” is supersonic, so it is very difficult to avoid, and if it has poison, it is a very troublesome ability for the sorcerers.
Incidentally, the poison did not have any effect on Yuji Itadori, even though Choso’s blood entered his body.
Choso’s domain expansion
Choso’s domain expansion does not appear in the story.
Domain expansion itself is an extremely advanced technique. If he were to use it, it would be a terrifying attack with a must-hit poisonous attack of “Blood manipulation”.
[Jujutsu Kaisen] Domain expansions list! The sorcerers, the effects, the names are shown!
[Jujutsu Kaisen] A description of the techniques and strength of Choso!
So far, I have explained about the technique of Choso.
The “Blood Manipulation” itself is an all-round technique, so it is very easy to use, and the ability of Choso is also very high.
In this section, we will explain his strength, physical abilities and weaknesses.
Choso’s physical and fighting abilities are high!
In the battle with Yuji, Choso also shows some close combat.
In addition to having a high physical ability, the “Blood Manipulation” also allows him to improve his physical ability with the “Flowing Red Scale“.
In the event of close combat, he can use the no-motion attack “Blood meteorite“, so you have a variety of strengths in battle.
Choso overcomes the risk of blood loss for “Blood Manipulation”!
The “Blood Manipulation” involves manipulating one’s own blood, and in some cases, such as with “Piercing blood“, a considerable amount of blood is used.
Therefore, the biggest risk of the “Blood Manipulation” is blood loss due to excessive use of blood.
On the other hand, Choso has a peculiar constitution that allows him to convert his cursed energy into blood, as explained in the free space in the 103rd chapter in 12th volume of the manga.
Due to this peculiar constitution, he does not lose blood unless he is completely drained of his cursed energy, which effectively overcomes the biggest risk of the “Blood Manipulation”.
Choso is quick in judging situations and quick in thinking during battle!
He has spent more than 150 years in the form of a cursed charm called the “Kusozu cursed womb“, and has recently been born as a incarnated body by means of Geto(Kenjaku).
Because of this, he is very inexperienced in battle, and even during the battle with Yujie, there were times when he did not understand the meaning and reason of the phenomena.
But even in such a situation, he is not upset at all, he accepts the reality and instantly comes up with the best solution for the situation.
In addition to his calmness, quick thinking and quick judgement of the situation, it seems that he will become even stronger when he gains more experience in combat.
The weak point of Choso’s “Blood Manipulation” is getting wet.
In the “Blood Manipulation“, the coagulation of the blood is constantly switched off to prevent it from clotting, which enhances the effectiveness of the procedure.
However, when the blood is not coagulated, it is very soluble in water. In water, the red blood cells in the blood expand due to osmotic pressure and their cell membranes are broken.
This makes it impossible to control the composition of the blood, so the “Blood manipulation” cannot be used outside the body in wet conditions.
In the story, Mini-Mechamaru’s plan to set off the sprinkler system created this situation, making it impossible for Choso to use technique such as “Piercing blood”.
This situation could have been prevented if Choso had understood this phenomenon, as the “Blood Manipulation” can also manipulate blood components to some extent.
However, due to his inexperience in battle, he was unable to understand the situation, and as Mini-Mechamaru had hoped, he was able to block most of the “Blood manipulation”.
Coagulating blood to increase attack and defense power! However, there is a risk of thrombosis.
As we mentioned earlier, the “Blood Manipution” always switches off the clotting reaction of the blood and basically does not coagulate the blood.
On the contrary, there are risks associated with coagulation.
No matter how well he performs the “Blood Manipulation”, he will not be able to control all the blood vessels in his body, so by coagulating his own blood he runs the risk of thrombosis.
However, in exchange for the risk of thrombosis, coagulating the blood has a great advantage, especially in close combat.
In the story, he collects the coagulated blood in his fist and fires a fist blow that is as hard as metal.
In addition, when he was hit with a body blow by Yuji, he covered his abdomen with coagulated blood like armor and survived the blow with no damage.
[Jujutsu Kaisen] Choso is No.1 of “Kusozu cursed womb”!
As I said at the beginning of this article, this is the incarnation of the first number of the “Kusozu cursed womb“.
At the beginning of the Meiji era, there was a girl with a very peculiar constitution who conceived a child of a cursed spirit.
She was persecuted by her relatives because of her constitution, which started with an unseen pregnancy and gave birth to an oddly shaped child of mixed blood between cursed spirits and humans.
Then she fled to a temple, which unfortunately had been opened by Noritoshi Kamo, who later became known as “the worst sorcerer in the history“.
And Noritoshi Kamo was produced by “nine times conception and nine times abortion” by the human experiment etc. to her, and it is “Kusozu cursed womb“.
By the way, all the records about what became of her afterwards have been destroyed.
The source and model of the “Kusozu cursed womb” is the Buddhist painting.
The “Kusozu cursed womb” is based on the Buddhist painting “Kusozu“.
This “Kusozu” is the painting which divides the progress of the decay of the corpse which was thrown away in the open air into nine stages, and the content of the painting is also quite unbelievable.
It shows the corpse in nine stages of decay, starting from the freshly dead to the corroded, then eaten by birds and animals, and finally buried with white bones.

The painting above is the Kusozu painting, and the model is Komachi Ono-no. The painting on the top left is the beginning, moving towards the right, and the one on the bottom right is the end.
- Choso: the corpse expands due to the gas produced by decomposition.
- Eso: the corpse is decomposing and the skin begins to break down.
- Kechizu-so: further decomposition and oozing of dissolved fat, blood and body fluids
- Noranso: The corpse itself dissolves due to decomposition.
- Shouoso: the body turns blue-black in colour.
- Tanso: The corpse is eaten by insects, birds and animals.
- Sanso: Scattering of the body parts
- Kotsuso: loss of flesh and skin, turning to white bones
- Shoso: Burial with only ashes
Numbers 1 to 3 are the same as the names of the characters in the jujutsu kaisen, and the fact that the skin on the back of Eso was destroyed and blood from the eyes and mouth of Kechizu is also consistent with the content of the “Kusozu”.
By the way, the meaning of this tragic picture of the Kusozu is that it is a way for monks to get rid of the “vexations” that hinder their enlightenment, and to know that the body in this world is impermanent.
As Buddhist monks were basically male, the corpses depicted in the Kusozu were often modeled on beautiful women, the object of their vexations.
(The model for the above painting is also one of the three most beautiful women in the world, Komachi Ono-no)
Where is the number 4 to 9 of the “Kusozu cursed womb”?
The “Kusozu cursed womb” are numbered 9 in all, with Choso being number 1, Eso being number 2 and Kechizu being number 3.
Numbers 4 to 9 appeared in the form of cursed charms in a group of brothers and sisters in the 106th chapter of the 12th volume of the manga, when Choso saw a “non-existent memory”.
The details of numbers 4 to 9 have not been revealed in this volume, but they may appear in some form in the future.
By the way, according to the law of the “Kusozu” in the Buddhist painting, if the incarnation of No.4 and afterwards, the body will be more disintegrated or decomposed than Kechizu.
[Jujutsu Kaisen] How strong is Choso?
So far, we have explained about his techniques and strength.
In this section, we’ll take a look at some of his battles and achievements in the story to find out how strong he is.
The battle between Choso and Satoru Gojo
In the Shibuya Incident, Jogo, Hanami and Choso engaged Satoru Gojo on the B5F of Shibuya Station, and later joined by Mahito to challenge him in an all-out battle.
Even so, Gojo is unable to land even a single attack, and Hanami is exorcised during the fight.
Although Choso was quite unwilling to fight this battle, he did attack Gojo with “Piercing Blood” and “Supernova“.
However, in the end, his domain expansion “Unlimited Void” caused everyone there to lost their brains, and everyone was effectively defeated by Gojo.
If it hadn’t been for the “Prison Realm“, Gojo would have been able to defeat all of the special grade cursed spirits.
The battle between Choso and Yuji Itadori
After Gojo was sealed, Yuji Itadori and Choso met each other.
The moment he saw his brother Eso and Kechizu avenger Yuji, he activated his “Convergence” and unleashed the “Piercing Blood“.
The arrow of blood flew at the supersonic speed, and Yuji couldn’t avoid it and guarded it with his cursed energy.
But his arm was severely wounded by Choso’s “Piercing Blood“.
After that, with Yuji outnumbered, Mini-Mechamaru’s strategy was to lure Choso into the toilet and activate the sprinkler system to block the “Blood Manipulation”.
Although he was able to get into melee combat, which was his forte, he succumbed to the application of the “Blood Manipulation” by Choso in the fighting game, ending in the defeat of Yuji.
The battle between Choso and Kenjaku, Uraume
He was briefly delirious due to the “non-existent memory” that Choso saw after his fight with Yuji, but afterwards he recognized thatYuji was his brother and rebelled against the Geto(Kenjaku) who tried to make the brothers kill each other.
In chapter 135, he unleashed a “Piercing blood” attack on Uraume, and even Uraume was unable to avoid the supersonic attack, so he stayed on guard.
However, this is followed by Uraume’s “Ice Formation“, which freezed everyon.
In the end, the game was put to rest, but even Choso was a tough opponent for the big bosses, Geto(Kenjaku) and Uraume.
Conclusion of “[Jujutsu Kaisen] Choso’s technique! List of Blood Manipulation!”
In this article, we have explained the techniques, strength, list of Blood Manipulation, abilities, weaknesses, and past achievements of Choso.
He was an enemy of Yuji when he first appeared, but as the story progressed he became an ally and even tried to get Yuji to call him “big brother”.
It will be interesting to see what kind of position Choso will be in in the future.
